{"id":3628,"date":"2012-12-11T17:51:01","date_gmt":"2012-12-11T22:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=3628"},"modified":"2012-12-11T17:51:01","modified_gmt":"2012-12-11T22:51:01","slug":"important-notice-to-all-nmc-students-for-spring-semester-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=3628","title":{"rendered":"Important Notice to all NMC students for spring semester 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please read carefully as there are changes affecting student accounts<\/p>\n<p>Payment due date for spring 2013 is January 3, 2013.\u00a0\u00a0For information on how to make a payment or set up a payment plan, please go to: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/cashier\" target=\"_blank\">www.nmc.edu\/cashier<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0Payment by electronic check (from savings or checking) is the most efficient option and if saved as a refund option provides the fastest refund possible.<\/p>\n<p>To pay online, log into MyNMC at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmc.edu\">www.nmc.edu<\/a> and choose Self-Service<\/p>\n<p>To apply for financial aid, go to:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fafsa.gov\">www.fafsa.gov<\/a> and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).<\/p>\n<p><strong>NMC\u2019s drops for non-payment have changed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You are responsible for payment of all charges by the payment due date or the due dates on your payment plan. NMC may drop your enrollment in classes if you owe a balance after January 3, 2013. However, there are circumstances where, as a courtesy, we will not drop your classes.\u00a0<strong>You must drop any classes that you do not plan to attend,\u00a0<\/strong>otherwise, you will be responsible for payment of charges incurred and will receive a grade at the end of the semester. All prior semester balances must be paid before registering for future semesters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW: There will be only one auto-drop for non-payment, scheduled for approximately January 7.<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 Even if you don\u2019t receive a notification as described below, please check and manage your account status and class schedule regularly, especially between now and the 100% refund dates listed on your class schedule for each course.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0couple of weeks prior\u00a0to payment due date, we will send an email notification to students who are flagged \u201cto be dropped\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0If you register after the email\u00a0you will not\u00a0get a\u00a0warning. \u00a0<strong>If you do not plan to attend, please drop your own classes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>When the auto-drop runs (approximately January 7), an email will go to all students affected explaining how they can re-register.\u00a0 You will have to make payment or have applied for financial aid.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Because the auto-drop process will not run again for this semester, it is important\u00a0to note that <strong>you are responsible for any balances not covered by financial aid. \u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>An email will also go\u00a0to those who had balances due, but whose classes were not dropped.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This is to\u00a0notify\u00a0you that there will be no more drops, and <strong>you are responsible to complete the financial aid process or make full payment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NEW: Students who are eligible for financial aid do not need to set up a payment plan<\/strong><strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>If NMC\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">has received<\/span>\u00a0your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and it is not flagged as ineligible due to loan defaults, satisfactory academic progress suspension or other issues, you are\u00a0not required to set up a payment plan.\u00a0\u00a0Please monitor your Self-Service and NMC email daily and respond to all requests for information.\u00a0 <strong>All <\/strong><strong>students are responsible to pay for any balances not covered by financial aid.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0You are responsible to manage your own enrollment (for example:\u00a0 dropping classes you do not plan to attend\/pay for).<\/p>\n<p>Please understand your federal loan limits and pay for balances in excess of your potential aid:<\/p>\n<p>Click on this link for:<strong> \u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/studentaid.ed.gov\/types\/loans\/subsidized-unsubsidized#how-much-can-i-borrow\"><strong>Federal Student Loan Limits<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Withdrawal or non-attendance can result in loss of financial aid.\u00a0 If your financial aid is completely in place (authorized), you can charge against the available balance at the NMC Bookstore from December 17 through January 24.\u00a0 Contact Student Financial Services for more information on your financial aid eligibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THINGS TO REMEMBER:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay by January 3, set up a payment plan and make payments on time, or apply for financial aid in time for NMC to receive your FAFSA by January 3 (it takes up to 2 weeks).<\/li>\n<li>Drop classes you don\u2019t plan to attend by the 100% refund date for each class printed on the student schedule.<\/li>\n<li>Watch your NMC email and check your account and schedule after the auto-drop to make sure you know where you stand.<\/li>\n<li>Pay your balances on time and\/or make sure to follow the financial aid process to completion.<\/li>\n<li>Attend your classes to completion, taking full advantage of all of the help available to succeed.
