{"id":3131,"date":"2012-11-01T15:54:15","date_gmt":"2012-11-01T19:54:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=3131"},"modified":"2012-11-01T15:54:33","modified_gmt":"2012-11-01T19:54:33","slug":"michigan-global-awareness-consortium-turkey-its-changing-social-and-political-landscape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=3131","title":{"rendered":"Michigan Global Awareness Consortium &#8212; Turkey: Its changing social and political landscape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">On Thursday, November 8, the Michigan Global Awareness Consortium offers the second presentation of its fall series. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">We are pleased to welcome Professor Kerri Finlayson, who teaches anthropology and sociology at North Central Michigan College (NCMC), and Professor Ken Winter, who teaches political science and journalism at NCMC and Ferris State University. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Winter is also a former editor and publisher of the\u00a0<em>Petoskey New Review<\/em>\u00a0and a member of the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. Both Finlayson and Winter recently returned from Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey. Their trip, sponsored by Ohio State University and the Niagara Foundation, allowed them to participate in conversations about revolutionary changes in the Turkish society.\u00a0Please join us on November 8<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">\u00a0<\/span>to hear these distinguished researchers discuss the developing social, economic, religious, and political dynamics in Turkey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The event (7:00 &#8212; 8:30 pm in the Oleson Center, Room A\/B) is free and open to the public.
