{"id":16277,"date":"2016-02-25T16:00:56","date_gmt":"2016-02-25T21:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=16277"},"modified":"2016-02-25T16:00:56","modified_gmt":"2016-02-25T21:00:56","slug":"board-of-trustees-recap-february-22-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=16277","title":{"rendered":"Board of Trustees recap- February 22, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NMC Board of Trustees met for the regularly scheduled meeting February 22, 2016 at the Oleson Center.<\/p>\n<p>Details on the actions items and reports are contained in the Board Packet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/about\/board-of-trustees\/agendas\/2016\/022216-Board-Packet.pdf\">available online<\/a>.<span id=\"more-14911\"><\/span><span id=\"more-14399\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A full video of the meeting is available here:\u00a0<!--more--><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5fZC7Q_qhLM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trustees heard an update on the new Alumni Relations Program from director Betsy Coffia. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board heard regular reports on enrollment, financials, the NMC Foundation, and legislative issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following people spoke during public input:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Janet Lively on faculty concern and the future of the college<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deirdre Mahoney on faculty salaries<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steve Drake on shared governance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessica Dewitt on face to face learning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Michael Emerson on the removal of regular faculty board reports<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jerry Dobek on presidential and faculty compensation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mella McCormick on faculty compensation and respect<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nancy Gray on faculty requests and union representation <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike Skarupinski on the MEA and free speech<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike Torre on faculty academic chairs and collaboration <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ryan Nugent on LEAN manufacturing approaches<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lisa Blackford on the faculty voice at the college<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brandon Everest on faculty input and support<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deb Pharo on faculty voice and union negotiations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tony Jenkins on continuous quality improvement at NMC and culture<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Barbara Smith on her support for faculty<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board approved minutes from the January board meeting and the retreat. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board approved the following items:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proclaiming April 2016 as Social Host Responsibility Month<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new certificate of achievement Level II in accounting<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A firewall replacement system with Secant Technologies<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An owner\u2019s representative contract with Plante Moran CRESA for construction projects<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board went into closed session to discuss collective bargaining efforts then returned to open session to conclude the meeting. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NMC Board of Trustees met for the regularly scheduled meeting February 22, 2016 at the Oleson Center.
