Northwestern Michigan College will graduate 689 students this spring, and 200 of them will participate in NMC\u2019s 59th commencement exercises, Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium at Traverse City Central High School.\u00a0 The public is invited to attend, or can watch the ceremony streamed online at\u00a0www.nmc.edu\/video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Students who graduated Fall 2011 or have already applied to graduate Spring and Summer 2012 are eligible to participate in the ceremony.\u00a0 NMC\u2019s University Center partner Ferris State University will also participate.\u00a0 Tickets are not required for guests.<\/p>\n

Speakers for this year\u2019s ceremony include NMC chemistry instructor Blake Key, the 2011 winner of the school\u2019s Imogene Wise Faculty Excellence Award, and Michael Diduch, president of the NMC Student Government Association.\u00a0 The 2012 winner of the award, and its companion, the Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award, will be announced.<\/p>\n

NMC will honor three Outstanding Alumni: Kathleen McManus (Nursing \u201974), Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Munson Medical Center, Steve Rawlings (Aviation \u201991), Regional Manager, DTE Energy, and Timothy Young (\u201982) Founder and President of Food for Thought.<\/p>\n

NMC will also hold its annual Honors Convocation at 5 p.m., May 4 at the Dennos Museum Center.\u00a0 The event honors winners of the annual Academic Area scholarships, honors scholarships and the Adult Student of the Year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
