She can be reached at (231) 995-1235 or\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:claverne@nmc.edu\">claverne@nmc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Carol is joining the\u00a0distinguished full time faculty after two years as an adjunct instructor in the Associate Degree in Nursing program, teaching first year, first semester nursing students, in the classroom, nursing skills lab and as a clinical instructor. Born and raised in metro Detroit, she received her Bachelor in Nursing from what is now University of Detroit-Mercy and her Masters in Nursing (Pediatric Oncology) from Emory University. The first part of her Nursing career was spent caring for children with cancer at Mott Children&#8217;s Hospital at U. of M. During the second part of Carol&#8217;s\u00a0nursing journey, she lived in TC and then back in Detroit for a while working in patient\/family education, nursing education, senior and women&#8217;s health and hospice\/pain management. She says that all\u00a0through her nursing career, teaching has been such a critical and rewarding role.\u00a0When not working she enjoys being out in nature (the more trees, critters and birds, the better!) and\u00a0also enjoys art, photography, fast cars and fast hockey ( go Detroit!)\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carol Laverne joined NMC as a\u00a0Nursing Instructor &#8211; Medical Surgical on August 19, 2015.
