{"id":1271,"date":"2012-04-23T15:57:59","date_gmt":"2012-04-23T20:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=1271"},"modified":"2012-04-24T14:49:30","modified_gmt":"2012-04-24T19:49:30","slug":"changes-to-admissions-process-for-associate-degree-nursing-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=1271","title":{"rendered":"Changes to admissions process for Associate Degree Nursing program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Some important changes have been made to the admission process to NMC\u2019s Associate Degree Nursing program (ADN)<\/strong>. \u00a0\u00a0Thirty-six students will continue to be admitted to ADN program each spring and fall semester. \u00a0In an effort to reward academic success and make the process more competitive, the following changes have been made:<\/p>\n<p>There are now three ways to secure a spot in the program each semester.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first 12 students will be admitted from the waitlist. \u00a0Six students from the face-to-face option and six from the online option will be admitted each Fall semester. \u00a0Each Spring semester all 12 spots will be filled from the face-to-face option.<\/li>\n<li>The next twelve (12) students will be admitted from those on the waitlist who applied for the competitive process. \u00a0These students can select either the face-to face or online option in the fall semester until spaces in the specific option are filled. \u00a0During spring semester, face-to-face is the only option available.<\/li>\n<li>The final twelve (12) students will be competitively admitted from those on the waitlist who applied for competitive admission and new students. \u00a0If spaces are available, students can select either the face-to face or online option in the Fall semester only. \u00a0During Spring semester, face-to-face is the only option available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students who wish to be placed on the existing wait list must become eligible by May 31, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Students not on the wait list by May 31, 2012 must complete the competitive process each semester.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are due by July 1 for Spring semester and February 1 for Fall semester.<\/p>\n<p>In order to become eligible for admission in the program, a student may not repeat any math or science class more than once.<\/p>\n<p>Students will receive much more advance notice of their admission into the program. \u00a0This will allow students to better prepare themselves and make the necessary arrangements to start the program.<\/p>\n<p>Notification for Fall semester admission (August) to the program will be made starting in February, and notification of admission to the Spring semester program (January) will be made starting in July.<\/p>\n<p>To best answer any questions you have about the new admissions process, an\u00a0<strong>Information Session will be held Tuesday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the Milliken Auditorium<\/strong>\u00a0at the Dennos Museum Center on NMC\u2019s main campus.<\/p>\n<p>RESOURCES:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/programs\/academic-programs\/nursing-associate-degree\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">NMC Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) web pages<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/programs\/academic-programs\/nursing\/faq.html\" target=\"_blank\">Frequently Asked Questions about the changes to the ADN admissions process<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some important changes have been made to the admission process to NMC\u2019s Associate Degree Nursing program (ADN).
