Thanks to Student Financial Services for hosting a <\/span>Financial Aid Fair<\/span><\/a> this week to guide students and their families through the FAFSA process and help students overcome financial hurdles.<\/span><\/p>\n

These efforts help remove barriers and increase accessibility to education. NMC is a leader in providing scholarships; last year 31% of NMC students received scholarships. \u00a0All students with at least a 2.0 GPA\u00a0 who apply to NMC before March 1 will receive a scholarship.The average number of public 2- year community college students who receive institutional aid throughout the United States is 5.5 percent according to the most recent National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NCES NPSAS:18-AC). <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to NMC scholarships and the existing State of Michigan scholarships, a new state scholarship\u2014the <\/span>Michigan Achievement Scholarship<\/span><\/a>, is now available to students graduating high school this year. Eligible students will receive a minimum $1,750 plus the possibility of another $1,000, based on remaining need.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Financial Fair will be held on Wednesday, February 8, from 4-7 p.m. in the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center, rooms 106\/107.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
