{"id":117412,"date":"2023-01-30T16:55:29","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T21:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=117412"},"modified":"2023-11-18T22:33:03","modified_gmt":"2023-11-19T03:33:03","slug":"employers-invited-to-register-for-march-2-career-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=117412","title":{"rendered":"Employers invited to register for March 2 Career Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>Students, alumni, community: Free LinkedIn prep sessions Feb. 23<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>TRAVERSE CITY &#8212; Employers are invited to register for Northwestern Michigan College&#8217;s 17th annual Career Fair, to be held Thursday, March 2 at the Hagerty Center on the Great Lakes Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Held in partnership with Northwest Michigan Works and Networks Northwest, the Career Fair runs from 3&#8211;6 p.m. Employers will have the opportunity to recruit job-seekers for career-track, seasonal and entry-level positions as well as internships and service learning.<\/p>\n<p>The event is open to students, NMC alumni and community members. Veterans are invited to arrive at 2:30 p.m. Employer registration is $25 (waived for non-profits) and available online. To register or for more information, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/advising-center\/career-fair\/index.html\">nmc.edu\/career-fair<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the event, participants are invited to attend free preparation workshops:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb. 23:<\/strong>&#160;Speaker Chaim Shapiro will offer two sessions on using the LinkedIn social network in a job search.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LinkedIn 101:<\/strong> 10&#8211;11 a.m. For beginning users.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maximized LinkedIn:<\/strong> 1&#8211;2 p.m. For advanced users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both sessions will be held on main campus in the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center, rooms 106\/107. Shapiro is the director of the Office for Student Success at Touro College in New York, a freelance writer, public speaker, LinkedIn consultant and a board-certified coach specializing in career coaching.
