Experts will explore India\u2019s economic evolution, domestic politics, and foreign policy in relation to the U.S., China and more. Guests will take questions from both in-person and online audiences. A specialist in international security and arms control issues, Professor Chellaney has held appointments at Harvard, the Brookings Institution, the School of Advanced International Studies at the Johns Hopkins University, and the Australian National University.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author of nine books, and has served as a member of the Policy Advisory Group headed by the foreign minister of India. Until January 2000, he was an advisor to India\u2019s National Security Council, serving as convener of the External Security Group of the National Security Advisory Board.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Chellaney is a frequent contributor to public conversation about international security on television and in print. He writes opinion pieces for the International Herald Tribune, the Wall Street Journal, the Japan Times, Mint, the Economic Times, and the Times of India. Professor Chellaney has a PhD in international studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University. His career experiences include twenty years overseeing work in Asia, with particular focus on India, spanning U.S. government national security and trade policy and the private sector (both in-house and as a consultant).<\/p>\n<p>During his 20 years in the U.S. government, he served as the Deputy Assistant and Acting Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asia from 2006 to 2010, leading trade negotiations with India and the region. Prior to that, he led South Asia policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense from 1999 to 2006, including leading the defense department\u2019s catalytic work building a new and transformed strategic and security relationship with India. Mr. Lilienfeld currently is a Fellow at Harvard Law School\u2019s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society serving as Co-Chair of the Project on Voluntary Licensing and Access to Medicines.<\/p>\n<p>For this hybrid event, Mr. Lilienfeld will be in person at Milliken Auditorium while Prof. Chellaney will connect from New Delhi via Zoom. This in-person event will be available to livestream. Registration is required with a suggested donation of $10.<\/p>\n<p>All IAF regular season events are open to the public. In-person tickets are required and available for purchase at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tciaf.com\/event-feb-16-2023\">TCIAF.com<\/a><\/strong> or at the door. In-person admission is $15 per person.
