For more information on exhibitions, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dennosmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/index.html\">http:\/\/www.dennosmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/index.html<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis spring the Museum is exploring new collaborations with Habitat for Humanity, NMC\u2019s Great Lakes Culinary Institute, and Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation,\u201d says Jason Dake, Curator of Education. \u201cEach organization has welcomed the opportunity to reach new audiences in unique ways, and we\u2019re excited to build on these relationships to better serve the community.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Habitat for Humanity-Grand Traverse Region<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of <em>Embrace the Dream<\/em> and in partnership with <em>ReTooled: Highlights from the Hechinger Collection<\/em>, an exhibition featuring tools as art, Habitat for Humanity-Grand Traverse Region will present a series of three programs. Learn about HabitatGTR\u2019s advances in home energy efficiency, meet Habitat families and volunteers, or purchase \u201cre-vibed\u201d furniture for your home. While the four spring exhibitions seem unrelated, a broader look at the art and museum world sheds light on surprising connections between artists, geographic regions, and cultures. The program will provide an opportunity for learning, looking, and reflecting on influential ideas and art, while discussing the purpose of museums in today\u2019s fast-paced, instant-gratification culture.<\/p>\n<p>Rischar has a Ph.D. in music history from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and has taught humanities, history, and film for over a decade, including at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Dickinson College, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibitions discussed will include: <em>ReTooled: Highlights from the Hechinger Collection<\/em>, featuring over 40 works that present tools as subject matter; <em>Michigan Ceramics 2014<\/em>, a biennial exhibition from the Michigan Ceramic Art Association; <em>Jinwon Chang \u2013 \u201cHweh-Geeh\u201d<\/em>, a site specific installation of bamboo and paper sculpture; and <em>Can\u2019t Stop Thinking About\u2026<\/em>, an installation of ceramic donuts from artist Jae Yong Kim. Presentations will be made by Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation, with the Northwest Michigan Water Safety Network, just in time for the warmer months. Participants will also be able to work with various materials to create their own one-of-a-kind sculpture inspired by Chang\u2019s installation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Dennos Museum Center is open daily 10 AM to 5 PM, Thursdays until 8 PM, and Sundays 1-5 PM.
