Actions governed by the highest degree of ethics, integrity, and personal responsibility: <\/strong>Cathy brings a high degree of personal responsibility to her position at the College. She responds to questions from both external and internal customers promptly and follows through to ensure that an issue has been addressed. She fields a multitude of insurance related questions throughout the academic year. These questions usually require a quick turnaround time in order for a field trip to occur. She ensures that the faculty\/staff member has the needed information and the College is not at risk.<\/p>\nPractices responsible stewardship for the human, physical, and financial resources: <\/strong>Cathy\u2019s role as Administrative Coordinator has expanded in the last couple of years. Two years ago she took on the role of coordinating renovations for offices and classrooms. For 2014 that included a total of 10 projects. For fiscal year 2015 to date she has accomplished 10 projects. She has been able to use existing furniture in many areas to reduce costs and still meet the needs of the users. The use of existing furniture has enable us to provide more active classrooms to our students. To put this in perspective furniture ordered in the last few years has been over $500,000. Being able to cascade furniture to other uses saves the College thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n Values all people and invests in their personal and professional growth: <\/strong>Cathy recently completed her Bachelor\u2019s degree through our University Partner, Grand Valley. She accomplished this while still coordinating the projects in the office. She continues to look for professional growth opportunities that will strengthen her work at the College.<\/p>\n Exhibits foresight, and collaborates with others: <\/strong>The renovation projects require a great deal of foresight and collaboration between many departments and outside vendors. Cathy is able to foresee scheduling conflicts and work with departments in order to meet some very tight deadlines. This year\u2019s project included renovation of the basement of East Hall and the Fine Arts common areas. Last year we had some very tight deadlines with the renovation of health services and the active classrooms. All of these projects are done on time with great deal of coordination and teamwork.<\/p>\n For being selected as the Employee of the Semester, Cathy will receive a framed certificate acknowledging her selection, a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant, and a reserved parking spot for fall 2014 semester.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Cathy McCall \u2013 Administrative Services Coordinator, has been selected as an NMC Employee of the Semester for summer 2014.
