Kudos to the following individuals and departments!
It has come to my attention that during a July summer vacation in Missouri, Pete LaCourse was involved in the rescue and lifesaving efforts of a three-year old girl in a swimming pool accident. Recently, I contacted the mother of the girl and she stated “He (Pete) was very humble about the whole thing, but I will forever be grateful to and for Pete after I lifted her out of the water I froze (even though CPR certified). Thankfully, he took her from me and got right to work breathing life back into her.” After Pete’s CPR actions, paramedic’s arrived to stabilize the girl, transported her to a hospital for overnight observation, where she was released the next day.
A big thanks to all of our Student Services departments who tabled at Pine Palooza; I heard great feedback from NMC students that the information provided was very helpful. And what a great turnout from our community partners – we heard that many NMC students were signing up for volunteer opportunities, too. What a great start to our 2014-2015 year!
