SkateThe Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College in collaboration with local designers, artists, and skaters, will present an exhibition of skateboard design, art, and culture in the summer of 2015. Opening May 31, Sideways: Exploring Skateboard Art + Culture, will feature art and design from Aaron Draplin, Jason Abraham Smith, and Yoonhyup; photography from Mike Blabac; and approximately 50 decks designed by local and regional artists.

The Museum is calling for designers, artists, and skaters to submit an original board design for jury consideration. Selected artists will have their work shown in the exhibition and be invited to celebrate with us on Go Skateboarding Day weekend, June 20-21, 2015. Entry fees start at $25 for students and $35 for all others.

Guidelines and the registration form will be available at the Dennos Museum Center, Lifer Skateboard Shop (502 E Front St), and online at: http://www.dennosmuseum.org/exhibitions/future/sideways.

Registration form and fee must be returned to the Dennos by Friday, March 27, 2015. Boards can be picked up at the Dennos, March 23-27, 2015. Completed board designs are due to the Museum, May 2 by 5pm.

Boards will be eligible for a juried prize and crowd favorite award, and auctioned off to support Museum programming and other community efforts.
