Below is a letter from Board of Trustees Chair, Doug Bishop recapping the retreat taken by the board recently.

College Community:

On behalf of the NMC Board of Trustees, I would like to thank DTE Energy for underwriting the entire cost of the 2015 Board Retreat held January 22 – 23 at The Homestead resort. As always, this retreat provided the Board an invaluable opportunity to interact with each other and the executive staff. There was much valuable discussion, which will serve NMC well in the future. DTE’s generous contribution will allow the College to re-allocate funds which would have been required for this very productive exercise.

During the retreat we became aware on Friday morning that the door to the building had become inadvertently locked for a short period of time. This was contrary to our instruction and without our prior knowledge. No one was purposely prohibited from entering the meeting. As soon as we were made aware of the situation we remedied it. Anyone else who had desired access would have gained entry immediately. That said, we take this situation very seriously. While we do not believe we violated the Open Meetings Act, and no one was harmed, we do regret that it took place and we will make every effort to ensure that such situation does not re-occur.
